Your Birthday is Big News! - FabFriday 53

It's the trifecta of Fridays here today! One, it's Friday (yay); Two, it's Halloween! (woohoo); and Three, I'm playing along with FabFriday! lol

Here's the awesome sketch I had to work with:

And here's the sweet birthday card I created with it!

Your Birthday is Big News! - FabFriday 53

I used the sketch and this fun pattern paper from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper for my starting point. Next I chose fun colors to go with the Old Olive and ended up choosing Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise. I love the three of them together!

And I pulled out this fun, fun, fun stamp from the Big News stamp set, it's so perfect to color with Stampin' Markers!

For the next element of the sketch I used a shooting star stamp from the Be the Star stamp set and inked up all the stars individually, again using Stampin' Markers. I stamped it twice and rotated the pattern of stars to fulfill the sketch element.

At the last minute I decided to add two Rich Razzleberry Candy Dots. The jury is still out on whether I think that is the perfect finishing touch. I actually wanted to add a bit of shimmer to the stars but seeing that the card is appropriate for a pre-teen boy, I thought adding shimmer might be a poor choice :)

I hope you have enjoyed today's card and that you have a safe and not-so-spooky Halloween!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Something for Baby - PPA220

Welcome back to another week with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge! This week we are working with this delightful and simple sketch:

Isn't it fun? I took the sketch literally when it said "any shape or image", I hope they meant it :)

Something for Baby - PPA220

My card is pretty straightforward but I did want to share one tip with you. I had some trouble with the pieces of the banner shifting when I was trying to lay them all out prior to adhering them...and then I had an epiphany! Someone else may have already discovered this, but it is new to me so wanted to pass it on. I took two of my Ovals Framelit Dies and laid them out like so:

I used a piece of scrap white card stock and ran it through my Big Shot. Since I didn't need the whole circle, I angled my paper to cut out only half of the oval. Then I ran my snail over one side, laid it over my card and adhered my banner pieces directly to it. Once done, I flipped the whole thing over, added Stampin' Dimensionals, and adhered it to my card...perfectly placed and so easy!

I used the Something for Baby Stamp Set and coordinating Baby's First Framelit Dies to create the onesie and the adorable flower. You can purchase these two items bundled together and save 15%!

I would be delighted if you hopped on over to the Pals Paper Arts challenge blog to see what the other designers have created with this sketch and then I hope you are inspired to play along with us!!

It's A Party! - Fry Box Treat Holder

Today I was treated to the most amazing experience...a group of eleven Southern California and Arizona Stampin' Up! Demonstrators gathered today in San Diego for some stamping fun, great food, and lots of chatting!!

We were so fortunate that our upline Mary Fish and fellow demonstrator Tricia Chuba were able to make the trip over from Arizona to be there with us...I'm so grateful there were able to attend!

I was asked to make a project to demonstrate to the Pals today. I decided on a 3-D item so I broke out the Fry Box Die and got busy stamping!

So what do you think? Have you seen the Fry Box Die and wondered what on earth you would use it for? Now we know! Treat Boxes! Birthdays, Weddings, Baby Showers, Christmas, Halloween, the possibilities are endless! I absolutely love this die!

I just love these dots! They have SUCH character!!

I ran a piece of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Whisper White cardstock through the Big Shot, it cut the outlines and scored the fold lines all in one step! Next I inked up the dot stamp from the Work of Art stamp set and inked away in all different colors (being sure to clean the stamp very carefully between ink colors!). I took the colors right out of this fabulous piece of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise.

I ran a piece of 3 3/4" x 3" DSP through the Big Shot to crop the top edge into the fry box shape and score the sides and bottom. Then I just took my paper snips and snipped away on the score lines, ran some Snail across the reverse side and adhered it right to the inside back of the fry box!

Then I just folded along all of the crease lines and put a piece of Sticky Strip along the outer edge of one of the flaps to create the box.

I used one of the stamps from the Oh My Goodies stamp set along with the smallest Deco Label Collection Framelit Dies and the Large Oval Punch to create my label. I adhered some flags to the back of the label to give it some "oomph" and attached the whole thing to my fry box with Sticky Strip.

Just a little bit of this wonderful wonderful new 1/4" Cotton Ribbon in coordinating colors to  top off a cute treat bag finishes the project off beautifully. I love how all the products tie together!

Today was filled with fellowship with some wonderful ladies and beautiful projects! I will get them all photographed, put together a summary of all the projects, and have them up on the blog tomorrow. Please stop by, you won't want to miss them! The Pals are a very talented collection of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators!!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I would love it if you have time to leave me a comment to let me know what you think of the Fry Box Die and my project!

Something for Baby - FMS147 & CYCI29

Hello there! I'm so happy to be back stamping! I had a rough week with migraines and missed my regular Thursday post :( But these two challenges from Freshly Made Sketches and Can You Case It got my creative juices flowing again and I'm back in my stamping room this morning! Yay!

Isn't this color combination divine? Love it! And the sketch this week by the very talented Jen Timko is just too fun!

And here's what I came up with!

What do you think? The colors just said 'baby boy' to me so I went with that. The stars from the Something to Say stamp set are just the perfect size for my banners and then I used my Stampin' Markers in the same colors to ink up this baby toy image from the Something for Baby stamp set and then die cut the image using the coordinating Baby's First Framelit Dies. For the life of me I cannot recall what the name of this toy is!! Please let me know! I used the 'congratulations' sentiments from the Something to Say stamp set on this card as well...the font is soooo pretty!

Just a little bit of wispy Linen Thread sets the baby toy off perfectly. Surprise, surprise, NO Candy Dots today! I actually put some on the card but when I photographed it, they looked like chicken pox! Truly, they were all you could see...so off they came and I'm perfectly happy without them (this time). I just love Stampin' Dimensionals, don't you? I've tried many different brands of foam adhesives over the years but am soooo happy with this Stampin' Up! product. They are the perfect amount of depth!

Love, love, love the opportunity to spend my morning stamping today! Now off to do some chores. A necessary evil...

Side note here, I had a bit of excitement this week while I was home with my migraine. I heard a funny noise and when I went to investigate I discovered that one of the supports for the shelves in my stamping closet had given way!! This is a major calamity because those supports support FIVE 8 foot shelves holding all of my precious goodies!! Eek! I had to rush to unload all of those shelves as fast as I could because I was so worried that they would give way completely and come crashing down on each other...!

Here is a picture of what gave way:

See how the far right support came away from the top rail? All of my goodies were tilting precariously and had to be rescued:

Do you see my feline friend? That's Buster, he's trying to figure out what's going on...

And still more...

Did I mention that I was recovering from a migraine when this happened??? Whew!

My darling husband promised to repair it for me this weekend...here's hoping!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome weekend!!
