A Clean and Simple Saturday Tag It Birthday - PPA202

It's been a busy few days so I was delighted to be able to sit down for a bit today and create my card for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge:

Aren't these colors YUMMY?? Not something I would ever come up with on my own, that's for sure! I am finding as time goes by though that I am becoming less afraid of the bright color combinations...I just have to pair them with white space :)

I knew the Real Red would be the main color for this card and immediately thought of this beautiful pattern from the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper. With this bright pattern and color combination I knew the card just HAD to be a birthday card. I puled out my catalog to find the perfect stamp set and came across the Tag It stamp set which I have had forever with great intentions but has never seen ink until today:( Especially sad since this stamp set will be retiring on June 1st. So if you like it, please be sure to grab it before it's gone, it will only be available while supplies last. The BEST part of this stamp set is that $3 of the sale of every stamp set goes to the Ronald McDonald House Charity!

I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the image. I love how easy it is to incorporate different colors on one image with these markers!

I wanted to keep the card cheerful but clean so I kept the details to a minimum. I used the Stampin' Trimmer Rotary Arm and the Small Scallop Rotary Arm Blade to add just a small scallop to the Bermuda Bay layer and repeated it on the layering for the main image. Two little banners finish the card off and provide color balance. I also used the Envelope Punch Board to round off just one corner of the card...just little details!

I didn't realize it at the time I was doing it, but if you look at my card you will see that each color is used in groups of three. That also provides balance.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sweet, Sweet Baby - PPA201

Sweet, Sweet Baby - PPA201

Hello there! It's Thursday and that means another Pals Paper Arts Challenge! WooHoo!

Here is the sketch that I used to create my card:

I must admit, it stumped me for awhile. I didn't really know WHAT to do with layers 1 and 2. I ended up having to change it up just a bit, but that's okay, the sketch is really a jmping off point for creativity...

I happened to need a baby card so I pulled out my new Baby We've Grown stamp set and got it inky! I really like all the different images in this set and how they can all be used interchangably. I changed up layers 3 and 4 as well, trying to add a bit of interest to the card. I don't usually use a lot of bling but I know the recipient of this card will LOVE it. She's a sparkly kind of girl:)

Here's a peek at the matching bunny on the inside:

Remember, free shipping ends tomorrow! Order your goodies and save 10%! It only happens once a year...

Thank you for stopping by! Won't you let me know what you think of this card? I love to hear from you!

Clean and Simple Saturday - PPA173 Sketch Challenge

Hello there and welcome to my latest Clean and Simple Saturday post!

First and foremost I would very much like to thank Susan Itell of the Pals Paper Arts design team for recognizing my submission for last week's Pals Sketch Challenge as a Pals Artists' Pick!! Please click here to see the winning card.

I have accomplished several goals with today's card:

  • I needed a baby card for a family friend,
  • I needed a Clean and Simple Saturday card,
  • I wanted to use this wonderful sketch by the talented Nicole Watt for the curent Pals Paper Arts challenge,

  • And lastly I needed to come up with a card that used products that start with the same letter as my first name for a little fun the Stampin' Pretty Pals are having over on their gallery.

So...baby card, check!...clean and simple, check!...followed the sketch, check!...and I used Smoky Slate and Soft Sky, starting with "S" for Shannon, check! Whew, I'm worn out, lol!

I did eliminate one of the layers of the sketch for this card...but this card suits me to a T! I am in love with this stamp set, Zoo Babies, and am thrilled to be able to put it to use to welcome a very long awaited little bundle of joy into the world...hello Abraham!

Sweet Baby - Freshly Made Sketches #97

Happy Wednesday to you! Do you know why I love Wednesdays? Because there's a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches to play along with!!

What a fun, clean sketch today by Jen Timko, who by the way I had the pleasure of meeting at Convention :-) I have been a fan of hers since starting to play along at Freshly Made Sketches so I was like WOW!! It's JEN TIMKO!! lol, it was fun to meet her in person and she was a delight to chat with! And with that, here's the card that I created with her sketch:

Doesn't this little guy just make you say "Awwww", yep, he's a keeper! He's from the set "Zoo Babies". I have been dying to ink up this set and this sketch was perfect for it! Do you recognize the Designer Series Paper? No? That's because it is in the Holiday Catalog which goes live tomorrow...yay! It's called "Sweater Weather" and is a wonderful trendy fall-themed paper. But if you have followed me for any time you will know that I delight in taking things outside the box. Fall-themed paper for a baby card? Sure, why not! This paper can be used year round :)

I stamped the giraffe onto my Very Vanilla layer and then stamped it again on another piece and fussy cut him out. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners and I inked it up with Sahara Sand and Crushed Curry markers and then used the Bitty Banners Framelits and my Big Shot to quickly die cut it out. I followd the sketch closely this week so I added a few banners to the top, one in Sahara Sand and the other in Soft Sky. A little bling seemed in order with some Candy Dots in Soft Sky and one Vintage Faceted Designer Button tied up with a bit of Whisper White Baker's Twine finish this card off nicely.

Most of the time I don't like to take the time to fussy cut, but I will when the card calls for it. How about you? I think some people enjoy the process, are you one of them? Won't you leave me a comment and lt me know? Thanks and have a creative day!
