Pick A Page - CYCI36

Hello there! I'm here today with my card for the Can You Case It Challenge. This week's challenge is to pick a page from the catalog and case the project! Fun!

My project is from page 141 of Stampin' Up's Annual Catalog. I chose it because it seems quite clean and simple when in fact there were a number of techniques on this card!

My first stumbling block was the size. The Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die is not meant to cover the entire card front. What to do? I layered it onto a regular 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card. After I was all done I realized that it would have fit perfectly onto a note card. Oops!

I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die as a stencil and lightly sponged Soft Sky ink into the openings. After the entire card front was done I went back and added a bit more, gradually getting darker on my way down. I like the effect! Then I used a stamp from the Geometrical Stamp Set to highlight a few of the hexagons with Bermuda Bay ink. I also ran a scrap of Bermuda Bay cardstock through the Big Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die and added a few of the cutouts to my card front.

I used Gold Embossing Powder to emboss this cute greeting onto my card. I have to admit, when I first saw this font I was unimpressed. It has grown on me now, enough for me to purchase the stamp set, and I am glad I have it now. It's cute and hip!

I added a bit of Whisper White 1/4" Cotton Ribbon held in place by a darling star paperclip from the Basic Hodgepodge Clips collection and think they finish the card off perfectly. I loovveee this ribbon, it is so soft and pliable!

Of course, lining the envelope in Bermuda Bay is the perfect accessory!

Please pop on over to the Can You Case It Challenge blog and see what the other designers have created...and now's your chance to copy that darling project you've been eying in the catalog and share it with us! We would love to see you play along!

Thanks for stopping by!!
