Wheely Sweet Friend - RS#132

Hello there! I came across this sketch this morning over at Retro Sketches and was so inspired that I had to sit down and make a card immediately...

And here is what I created with it!

Wheely Sweet Friend - RS#132

My first step in creating this card was to browse through my Stampin' Up! papers. This pattern from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stacks has never caught my eye before, but it did today, in a big way! It has such clean lines that I knew immediately it would be perfect with this sketch. Then I browsed through my stamps and spotted the Cycle Celebration Stamp Set. I thought that the adorable bicycle would fit perfectly and I have been itching to use it.

The card came together quickly after that. I kept all of the lines clean and left just a pop of yellow in the middle. I think it draws your focus immediately to the center of the card.

Once again, Candy Dots are the perfect accent. The green in the cardstock and pattern paper is Mossy Meadow and the green in the Candy Dots is Always Artichoke but I think they work wonderfully. Don't be afraid to substitute!

Two notes I wanted to share today:

  • When using a long sentiment, make sure you have it lined up straight before stamping onto your card. This is where the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is helpful.
  • In order to have my two layers be the same depth all the way across, I added a strip of scrap Island Indigo card stock to the left side of the bicycle layer. Now when I adhere it to the card base, it is the same depth as the bottom layer.

It's my day off so I'm off to finish my to do list! Card making wasn't on the list, but hey, when inspiration strikes you have to run with it, right? lol

Thanks for stopping by!
