Twirly Whirly Birthday - PPA158 Color Challenge

Follow Me on Pinterest

I have a wonderful color combination to share today courtesy of the Pals Paper Arts design team:

Isn't this combination just delightful? Here is what I came up with:

I am in need of a few birthday cards and wanted to use the Pinwheel Sizzlit Die and the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set before they retire on June 3rd. I also loaded up on some beautiful Designer Series Paper that will be retiring as well...it's so sad to see these beautiful products retire but we must make room for beautiful NEW products!

Did you notice the Designer Series Paper I used for the pinwheel? I wanted to have one side be Pool Party and the other Summer Starfruit but I didn't have one Designer Series Paper that fit that bill so I created two pinwheels from the Sizzlits Die and attached them together before assembling the pinwheel...where there is a will there is a way!

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Wishes Your Way (129156)

Paper: Pool Party (122924), Lucky Limeade (122926), Summer Starfruit (126839), Whisper White (100730) Cardstock; Comfort Cafe (126898), Birds of a Feather (126899), Patio Party (126916)Sunshine and Sprinkles (130670), 2011-2013 In Color (122384) Designer Series Paper

Ink: Lucky Limeade (126984) Classic Stampin' Pad

Thanks for a 'Reason to Smile'

Thank you for giving me a Reason to Smile...I am sorry to see you go! This is such a pretty two-step stamp set! After today it will no longer be available for purchase so I wanted to share it with you one more time...

I stamped the image using Cajun Craze, using both of the two-step stamps. I love the color but wanted to highlight the flower just a bit more so I used my paper piercing tool and the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack to add a circle around the flower. I think it added just the right touch and so easy to do!

Just a bit of Comfort Cafe paper and Old Olive Scallop Dots Ribbon and done!

If you are interested in purchasing this stamp set, it will be available for purchase until 11:00pm PST time today with a $50 purchase through my my online store.

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Reason to Smile, Kindness Matters

Paper: Old Olive, Very Vanilla CS; Comfort Cafe DSP

Ink: Cajun Craze, Old Olive Classic Ink Pads

Tools: Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Paper-Piercing Tool, Stampin' Pierce Mat

Embellishments:  1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon in Old Olive

Welcome to the Pals New Catalog Blog Hop! The Stampin' Pretty Pals are excited to share some fabulous cards and projects showcasing our favorite products from the new Stampin' Up! Catalog! You've probably hopped over from Marian Kay at All Aboard the Crafting Train, I'm stop number 13 on the Pals Hop and I'm glad you hopped in! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for new Stampin' Up! products from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you'll be back on track!

I wanted to showcase my favorite new In Color Summer Starfruit for the hop this month. I just love the tone of this yellow! From there I checked my Color Coach and it suggested I use Elegant Eggplant as a complimentary color. Really???? Wow! I'm just in love with this combination now and I never would have put it together on my own! I really enjoy that Stampin' Up! provides such wonderful resources for creativity! I thought I would just add a bit of Elegant Eggplant using the rick rack pattern on the Tasteful Trims Bigz Die so I ran the cardstock through my Big Shot and then tucked it behind one of the patterns from the Comfort Cafe DSP.

Another new item I used for the first time on this card is the You're Amazing stamp set. The sentiment I chose fits perfectly in one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies...so easy to use! For a bit more texture, I used one of the patterns from the brand new Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and my new Paper Piercing Tool to punch a matching pattern on my label. Everything coordinates! Lastly, I fussy cut the ballons from the You're Amazing stamp set to use as an embellishment and popped them up with Dimensionals. The detail on these ballons is incredible! Oh, and a few rhinestones for a bit of bling. Even a simple card deserves some bling, right?

Going in Circles...

Follow Me on Pinterest

This is the second card we will be making in my 'Simple Stamping' class this week. The class is held at work on our lunch hour so in order to get two cards done in an hour we need to keep them simple. But simple does not have to be plain! Thanks need to go out to Jen Timko for reminding me that simple shapes can come together to create a work of art.

I wanted to showcase one of Stampin' Up!'s new Designer Series Paper 'Comfort Cafe' which will be available in the new catalog which will be released on June 1st! This paper is my new favorite so plan on seeing lots of samples with it! The cardstock used is 'Midnight Muse', one of the 2012-2014 In-Colors from the new catalog. For this card I used just about all of my circle punches to punch circles of different sizes and then arranged them on the Very Vanilla cardstock until I was happy. I adhered the circles to the Very Vanilla cardstock (I let one of the circles hang over the edge for added interest) and then ran that layer through my Big Shot using the Houndstooth embossing folder. I adhered that layer to the Midnoght Muse cardstock using Sticky Tape (embossed layers always needs a bit more adhesion). I stamped my sentiment using my new ink pad in Midnight Muse. The new ink pads are the BOMB!! Just one little tap with my stamp and I had a very beautiful clean image on my Very Vanilla cardstock. I also stamped the companion phrase to the inside of the card so that the entire sentiment reads 'So many smiles...begin with you'. I punched the sentiment out with my 1 1/4" circle punch and layered it onto a Midnight Muse circle punched with my 1 3/8" punch, adhered a Dimensional to the back and attached it to my card front. Then I adhered the card front to the card base and voila! I have a super clean and modern looking card in under 20 minutes! EZ Peasy!

The 'Petite Pairs' stamp set I used here has lots of options for changing the sentiment, expanding the possibilities for this simple card. You could easily swap out the DSP as well to make it masculine, kid and teenager friendly, even grandma friendly! You could also re-oriente the card to landscape. I just see LOTS of options with this layout!

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Petite Pairs

DSP: Comfort Cafe (available June 1st)

Ink Color: Midnight Muse

Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla

Tools: Circle Punches: 1 3/4", 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1", 1/2", Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Big Shot
