Fine Feathers Thank You

Fine Feathers Thank You

Happy Saturday to You! Aren't these feathers beautiful?!? I have to thank my fellow pal, Windy Ellard, for piquing my interest in the 'baby wipe technique' and for pointing me to this wonderful video by Sandy MacIver to show me how to do it!

The technique is very simple and creates beautiful results! I think you may be seeing more of it from me:) The colors I used are Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Lucky Limeade. I realize Lucky Limeade is retired, if you don't have it currently, I think that Pear Pizzazz would be a great alternative.

Fine Feathers Thank You

I used a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to stamp my background in Hello Honey and Lucky Limeade, being sure to stamp off before stamping my background for a nice subtle look.

I found this sentiment in the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set and it just seemed to fit the mood of the card perfectly. A subtle layer of Lost Lagoon cardstock popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals provides added visual interest.

Fine Feathers Thank You

I thought that gold would be a great accent for this card and tried to use some individual sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim but found that they were too large for my card. Then I found these little beauties in my stash, a gift from a friend. Perfect!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to get some crafty time in! I will be back tomorrow with my project for the Can You Case It challenge blog :)

Pal Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #189

Today's card was created for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge...this week it is a sketch challenge!

I kept it very clean and light in Coastal Cabana. I've been using this color quite a bit recently!

I love the combination of the stripes and polka dots, they compliment and offset each other nicely. A clean and simple flower image from the Best of Sale-A-Bration stamp set and a simple sentiment from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set work very nicely together.

Stamping with a light color can be tricky because with the light color, the image may not have as much impact as you would like. I ramped that up just a notch by adding paper piercing along the edge. And I carried the sentiment banner over to the other side of the flower image to balance everything out.

I hope you find time to play along with the challenge this week!

Thanks to a Pal who has a programmer husband, I now have these awesome images in my supply list. You can click on any of the images and they will link you directly to my store! I think they are awesome and hope that they help you quickly visualize the products and how I have used them :)

Birthday Bloom

Hi There! Thanks for popping in! Today was a long headachy day so at the end of it I found some 'me' time in my craft room and made something bright and cheery to end the day on a positive note!

For this card I utilized one of my new favorite stamps set, Blooming with Kindness, my new Window Frames Collection Framelits Die and some cheery designer paper from the Floral District Designer Paper Series. This card came together so easily! I just love how the colors pop off the Wisteria Wonder cardstock:) I used my Finishing Touches Edgelits Die to add a bit of softness between the DSP and the card base. A bit of bling, some sponging, and an appropriate sentiment and that's it (wait for it)...ez peasy!!

The layout for this card came together in minutes and is so versatile, change the colors, papers, sentiment for an endless assortment of cards!

Note: I always add a bit of matching or coordinating DSP on the envelope flap, so that the recipient has a taste of what's inside. The paper is just so pretty I can't help but add it to everything!

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Bring on the Cake

Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White CS; Floral District DSP

Ink: Rose Red

Tools: Big Shot, Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies, Finishing Touches Edgelits Die

Embellishments:  Rhinestones Basic Jewels

Here for You - Freshly Made Sketches #46

Follow Me on Pinterest

Today I am sharing a card I made following the sketch provided over at Freshly Made Sketches, created by Leslie.

I enjoy participating in challenges as I think they give me options that I would not have thought about on my own. When I saw today's sketch, I knew immediately that I would use a new stamp set called Blooming with Kindness. I see great versatility in the simplicity of the flower and the wide variety of phrases available in this stamp set. I believe it will get lots of use, always something I consider when choosing a stamp!

I followed the sketch quite closely today, however I did alter the placement of the sentiment as the set I chose to use did not have a sentiment that matched the sketch. And that's okay, because the sketch is really just an idea, we are always free to make adjustments to suit our needs! In place of the seniment banner, I used a Brushed Bronze Designer Button, now available in the Holiday Catalog. I was surprised when I picked one of these buttons up, they are much lighter weight than you would expect and the extra large holes in the center allowed me to pull my ribbon through easily.

The card is monocromatic so I used a bit of 3/8" taffeta ribbon in So Safron to add a pop of color :) I just threaded the ribbon through the button, folded it back onto itself and snipped banners into the ends.

I did want to point out that the Designer Series Paper is from the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper set available in the Holiday Catalog. Yes, you read that right, Christmas paper. I just love the thought that goes into the creation of Stampin' Up!'s designer papers. They have longevity built into them!

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Blooming With Kindness

Paper: Early Expresso, Very Vanilla CS; Candlelight Christmas DSP

Ink: Early Expresso Classic Ink Pads

Tools: Big Shot, Top Note Bigz Die, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder

Embellishments:  3/8" Taffeta Ribbon in So Saffron, Brushed Bronze Designer Buttons
