Spooky Screamy Halloweeny - PPA217
/Welcome! Today is the premiere of Stampin' Up's holiday catalog and I am so excited to share it with you! It has a plethora of beautiful new products! I am showcasing some of these new products in my project today for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge:
September is right around the corner and that means crisp fall nights are also peeking around the bend...and that means HALLOWEEN-Y!!! Woo Hoo! I love all of the fun of hobgoblins and mischief, with just a hint of spooky, and that's what I have for you today!
How fun is this paper?!?! I went ahead and made a square card in keeping with the sketch...this one measures 4 1/2" square. I used the busy pattern for my background while keeping a more muted pattern in the forefront so as not to distract from the sentiment. Both patterns are from the new, deliciously adorable Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper. I backed the Crushed Curry patterned paper with Tangerine Tango and Basic Black cardstock to add interest and then popped all the layers up with Stampin' Dimensionals. Again, more visual interest. The candy corn patterned paper is layered over a white card base.
This super fun image is from the Mingle All the Way stamp set, also in the new holiday catalog. I admit, I purchased the set for this one sentiment, thank you Brian King for enabling me! I used Stampin' Markers in Basic Black, Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango to color my image and then I punched it out with Stampin' Up!'s 2 1/2" Circle Punch and added an additional circle in Basic Black.
I added a small strip of Tangerine Tango cardstock, trimmed into a banner. I trimmed it freehand but you can also use a square punch. To snip it freehand, simply make a small snip in the center of your cardstock strip with your Paper Snips and then trim in from the outer edge of the strip to the center, and again on the other side.
I added three Basic Black Candy Dots to my banner and then pondered my card. I felt it needed just a little bit more...but what? Something perhaps at the top and bottom of my sentiment but Candy Dots would be too big and Pearls would just look funny :) And then it hit me! The super adorable Freaky Friends stamp set has some Jack-o-Lantern eyes! Perfect!
So added them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and called it good.
Since it's a square card I quickly created a custom envelope for it using the Envelope Punch Board and Tangerine Tango cardstock. I used Mary Fish's tutorial to add an envelope liner and this card is ready to be sent out to a young nephew of mine :)
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a chance to pop on over to the Pals Paper Arts challenge blog to see at the design team's wonderful projects and I would love to see you play along!
Have a great day!
